Account & Login
No! ermn. has moved to a Pure Username Login system. New users only need to provide a username and password.
Internally, your account is associated with username@ermn.social, but you never need to see or use this email.
If you signed up before the transition, try logging in with your Username first. If you get an "Invalid credentials" error, please enter your Original Email in the username field. Once logged in, your account will be updated to the new system.
Yes! If an account is banned and deleted by an admin, that username is instantly released and can be claimed by a new user. This keeps our community vibrant and ensures great names don't stay locked behind inactive accounts.
Getting Started
Go to your Profile page and look for the "Update Picture" section in the sidebar. You can upload any image from your device. Square images work best!
Head over to Settings. We have several retro-inspired themes like "Classic Blue," "Bubblegum," and "Midnight." Pick one and it will apply to the whole site immediately.
Features
When writing a post, click the " Add Poll" button. You can add up to 4 options. Once you post it, other users can vote, and you'll see the results in real-time.
If you enable "Private Account" in your Settings, people will have to send you a follow request. Only approved followers will be able to see your posts.
Head to Settings and find the "Account Security" section. Click the 2FA button to display a QR code. Scan this code with an Authenticator App (like Google Authenticator or Authy), then enter the 6-digit code to complete setup.
Your Home feed displays posts from users you follow in chronological order. The Feed (Algorithmic) displays popular and recommended posts from the entire ermn. community, regardless of who you follow.
Verification badges are granted by the moderators to prominent community members or recognized figures. Stay active, post great content, and you might see a blue checkmark appear next to your name!
Data & Migration
In Settings, you'll find the "Data Portability" section. You can export a .ermn file containing all your posts.
If the database is ever reset or wiped, you can log in, go back to Settings, and use the "Import Backup" tool to restore your content with original timestamps.
As a community project, accidental data loss is rare but possible. By keeping a regular .ermn export of your data,
you ensure that you can always bring your posts back to a new instance of ermn.
